Position Purpose:
The Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) provides safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by physicians. This includes patient assessment, mechanical ventilation management, medication administration, hemodynamic monitoring, and patient/family education across specialty areas (Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, Critical Care).

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver all respiratory care procedures safely and competently.

• Maintain accurate patient documentation and verify physician orders.

• Monitor ventilator patients, perform arterial blood gas draws, and assist with intubations.

• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory equipment.

• Participate in patient care rounds, departmental meetings, and ongoing education.

• Assist with training and orientation of new staff and students.

• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and hospital policies.

• Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other care providers.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of COARC-approved Respiratory Care Program with CRT credential.

• BLS certification (within 90 days of hire); NRP certification (within 6 months).

• Minimum 1 year hospital respiratory experience; pulmonary/cardiac diagnostics preferred.

• Strong knowledge of patient assessment, age-appropriate care, and therapeutic interventions.

• Must pass background check, drug screen, and employee health requirements.

Other Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Ability to work flexible hours and in multiple care areas.

• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
